Press ReleaseMonday, May 11, 2009 by Teton Valley Chamber of Commerce On Thursday, May 7th at the Idaho Conference on Tourism and Recreation, Reid Rogers, President of Teton Valley Chamber of Commerce, was awarded the Governor's 2009 Take Pride in Idaho Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement. In making the award the Commerce Department noted that over the past several years, Reid has helped establish an Urban Renewal District in Driggs and has been instrumental in securing funding for a Scenic Byway Interpretive Center in Driggs. "He has brought to the table an ambitious and well-thought-out plan for the investments--- the plan is complicated and detailed, requiring great deal of him personally yet step by step, Reid has matched his vision with functional detail and community work". {smoothgallery album=8&timed=true&delay=5000} "Reid has played key roles in rebuilding the Teton Valley Chamber of Commerce, branding Teton Valley as an international recreation destination and facilitating smart growth and public planning in a fast growing community". A quote from a letter received from Jim Dion of National Geographic Society was disclosed. "The National Geographic Society - Center for Sustainable Destinations believes that Reid is an exemplary entrepreneurial visionary. His leadership in fostering the cooperation between the Departments of Commerce and Transportation in supporting and marketing the Byway system has led to a Grant from Transportation for the Scenic Byway site development and secondly to the proposed creation of the Geotourism Interpretive Center in Driggs" Reid accepted the award on behalf of all the people who helped him along. {youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Yr0CksOeEc} |
